When my husband and I bought our new house, we knew that we wanted to have the locks changed and rekeyed. Neither one of us felt good about having the same locks on the door even though the house had sat empty for nearly a year. To us, that did not mean anything because people could still have the keys to any of the locks on the doors. We knew we would sleep better at night having all the locks changed. We also wanted them rekeyed because we wanted to have the same keys for some of the locks.
I am an avid runner, and I did not want to have to carry a set of keys with me when I go running. I want to carry just one key, and I want that key to be able to open up the front door or the back door of the house along with the door leading into the garage. Since no one would have these keys other than my husband and myself, we did not feel this was a bad decision to make. What we had to figure out though was which locksmith to come out and do this.
Being new to the area meant we were at a disadvantage because we did not have any relationships with any of the locksmiths in town. We had to rely on testimonials from others along with our gut instinct. We figured we would be able to pick a good locksmith with these limited resources, and we were right. The one who came out to change all of our locks and rekey them was very professional, very friendly, and was instrumental in us deciding to get a security system as well after talking with him as he worked. Hopefully we don’t need to use a locksmith again for a long time, but if we do, we know who we are going with!
